Turning a Mother’s Wise Words into a Celebration

The Connecticut Immigration and refugee Coalition (CIRC) is an organization that favors and supports community organizations, legal service providers. Moreover, they also promote religious and non-governmental groups that are working to protect the rights of and economic development of refugees in the state.

In accordance with their services, the coalition honors the immigrants who have made significant contributions to the state. On Wednesday, April 17, 2019 nineteen immigrants from various countries were acknowledged for their services at State Capitol by the CIRC.

On this auspicious ceremony, Salma Khatoon Farid award was also presented for the first time to Nancy Caddigan who has spent last 40 years in serving and guiding community’s immigrants towards academic and vocational success. 

The sole idea behind this award, as stated by Tariq Farid, the founder of Edible Arrangements is to:

”Always honor those who made an impact on your life.”

Making this thinking as the game runner, Mr. Tariq Farid along with his wife Asma Farid have decided to continue the legacy of her mother and honor the teachers every year, who have taken lead to positively impact the lives of young immigrants.

The owner aims to turn the wise words of his mother into a celebration and acknowledge teachers through platforms like CIRC by presenting them with the Salma Khatoon Farid award every year.
