Asma Farid

Asma is the Vice-President and Managing Partner of Farids & Co. LLC, a leading developer and management company for franchising, technology, supply chain and real estate brands.  She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Edible Brands, LLC, the parent company of the international franchise company Edible Arrangements among other brands.

Asma Farid was born and raised in Pakistan before moving to Connecticut in 2005. Her maternal grandparents were forced to immigrate from India to Pakistan in 1947, leaving behind all of their belongings, family, and friends. Growing up listening to her grandmother’s stories about the struggles of being a refugee instilled in Asma strong philanthropic values, which ultimately led to her lifelong dedication to public service and giving back to the community.

She currently serves on the board of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut, through which she is heavily involved with the Global Engagement Award that recognizes high school students with the courage to address global issues. Additionally, she serves on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and previously served on the board of Connecticut’s Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS). She was honored in 2019 on Connecticut Immigrant Day for her contributions and dedication to the state.

In 2013, Asma and her husband Tariq founded The Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation, a philanthropic non-profit that works to provide the basic needs of food and healthcare as well as improve lives through the support of education and skill development opportunities. The foundation currently operates a free hospital in Pakistan that treats 100 patients a day on average and hosts free eye clinics every three months. The foundation is also committed to directly supporting educators in both Connecticut and around the world.

In honor of their philanthropic efforts, Asma and Tariq were recipients of the 2017 Anti-Defamation League Greater New Haven Torch of Liberty Award.

In 2019, Asma and Tariq moved their family from North Haven, Connecticut, to Atlanta, Georgia. Asma looks forward to not only continuing to give back to the state of Connecticut, but to also get more involved in philanthropy in her new home state of Georgia.
